Source Of Buyer's Funds
If you are acquiring buyer financing, it is recommended to email a copy of your prequalification letter to the seller in order to show the seller that you can qualify to purchase the vessel. In some cases, a seller may prefer a cash buyer because the deal is not contingent on the buyer, or the vessel, quailifying for a loan.
The time frame you are giving for the seller to review and accept, counter offer, or reject your offer. If the seller does not respond within this time frame, it is considered a rejection of your offer. This time frame is typically three days from the offer date. If the seller accepts your offer, the vessel is typically not used for pleasure purposes until the deal is cancelled or closed.
Surveys / Inspections
Check all surveys / inspections you wish to perform before your 'Accept / Reject Date.' You will typically have 21 days to perform all surveys / inspections. Typically, all surveys / inspections are done on the same day. However, some buyers prefer to survey the engines first to rule out any engine problems before more money is paid for other surveys / inspections. All survey / inspection costs are typically the responsibility of the buyer. Getting the vessel to the boat yard for haul out and sea trial costs are typically the responsibility of the seller.
The date in which you should have completed your inspections and decided to accept or reject the vessel. If the buyer does not accept or reject the vessel before or after this date, it is considered a rejection of the vessel and all deposits shall be returned to the buyer. This date is typically 21 days from the offer date.
The date in which the deal should be completed, all money has been transferred, title has been checked for encumbrances, and the buyer is ready to take over possession of the vessel. Possession of the vessel is typically taken on or after this date and in its current slip.
