Sea Ray

We are selling our highly customized and meticulously maintained SR400EC to buy a sailboat. The price is firm because we love the boat and the slip, so we are in no rush to sell.

That said, the slip is transferrable and has the best views for the money on the main channel.

We bought it 2015 and have updated/upgraded everything to make it like a new boat (both mechanically and for reliability), and in addition, has a custom teak interior to look like a classic boat.

Sea Ray is one the best boat manufacturers and the SR400EC is one of the best models Sea Ray ever made: the direct drive (not V-Drive) ZF trans combined with the most popular marine diesel made, Cummins 6BTA5.9M2, makes this powertrain reliable and low-cost. The stability and handling rival much larger boats, without the excessive fuel burn and difficulty to maneuver in tight spaces; this model can be easily docked with just one person. We can hit a top speed of 31MPH/27Knots and cruise comfortably at 23+ MPH/20+ Knots). Our Fuel Burn and Speed is consistent with the factory specs (see the last picture, which is from the prior owner’s paperwork), making it great for coastal cruising and a quick trip to the island without having to fuel up (300 Gallons of fuel give it a cruising range of ~400 NM). And with the large water and holding tanks (100 gal. and 30 gal.) and an 8kWh Westerbeke generator, you can be away for a long time.

Custom Teak Interior: sole, doors, cabinets, stairs, walls, and drawers. The (cheap) carpeting was removed and replaced with teak and holly sole. This was a huge undertaking at a cost of over $75,000 about seven years ago. (Probably double that now, if you can source the Teak).

Cabin/Saloon is very spacious with an interior ceiling height of 6’2” and can comfortably sleep six adults between the three interior areas.

Excellent Mechanical and Cosmetic Condition:
Our boat is one of the best maintained boats in the marina; we don’t cut any corners and do all the maintenance before it becomes an issue because we have a simple objective of having no issues when on the water. Pretty much anything that wears-out or can break has been replaced:
Turbos, Valves/Top-End, Injectors, and Exhaust Elbows have less than 200 hours on them.
Heat Exchangers and Raw Water Pumps have less than 50 Hours.
Both Cummins starters have also been replaced, just to eliminate being stranded when out on the water.
The battery charging system and Shifters/Throttles have been replaced (they worked, but they were original).
Canvas was replaced about five years ago.
New Props and Bottom Painted in August 2023.
Zincs and bottom cleaning are done regularly.
About six years ago, Garmin TouchScreen GPS and Integrated Radar/VHF was installed to replace the original old one.
Have all the service records for all these upgrades and repairs.

The SR400EC was the successor to the fabulous 39 foot express cruiser, so the newer model had to be better, and Sea Ray did not disappoint with both features and accommodations because this boat is fully loaded:
